"HUMAN TRAFFICKING HAS BECOME A POIGNANT ISSUE IN OUR SOCIETY. 80% OF GIRLS EIGHTEEN AND YOUNGER ARRESTED FOR CHILDHOOD PROSTITUTION ARE IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. IN 2014 WE HAD A VISION FOR HOSTING AN EVENT THAT WOULD HELP US REACH OUT AND CONNECT WITH THESE AT-RISK YOUNG WOMEN WHO ARE STILL IN OUR FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. OUR HOPE WAS THAT WE COULD FORM LASTING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THESE YOUNG WOMEN THAT WOULD IMPACT THEIR LIVES AND GIVE THEM HOPE BEYOND THEIR CURRENT SITUATION. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH LA COUNTY CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES (FOSTER CARE), LA COUNTY PROBATION, AND LONG BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT WE HELD A YOUNG WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE THAT DID JUST THAT. "Once again, on April 30 2016, our team will host girls ages 12-18 from foster care and probation - this time we will be reaching 500! We'll be treating them to breakfast, lunch, presents and lots of fun -- but best of all we will be talking to them about being BRAVE enough to unlock the keys to all of their potential. BRAVE enough to rise above their circumstances, BRAVE enough to accept they are valued, loved and worthy of all the positive things in this life.

Would you join us by donating to this cause? It's so easy and it is tax deductible! Go online to: www.7thstreetchurch.com/giving and click to make a "one time donation" toward BRAVE. Your contribution will go a long way in pouring truth and hope into lives of young girls who very much need it!"

Our Partnership with Gems Uncovered

On Saturday July 18, 2015 "OUR VOICE” campaign hit the streets rallying awareness against human trafficking lead by Mary White founder of Gems Uncovered.

A group of youth 12-17 (the age range that is targeted) took the streets of Long Beach to scream out loud; STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING. Holding signs up that read “We are not for sale!” These brave young heroes made it their mission to take on a huge problem that many don’t know exists or think it only happens in other countries.

The youth did an outstanding job of being doers of the Word. "Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God" - Mary White

Gems Uncovered is an organization dedicated not only to spread awareness, but also a ministry to help get these victims off the streets, and furthermore to try to heal them from the torture they have endured.

The “Our Voice” Campaign is more than a one-day event; this is a six-month movement that will bring awareness to various communities throughout the city of Long Beach California. Before any girl can participate in the campaign, they must attend a mandatory sex trafficking awareness workshop highlighting topics such as “But he said that he loved me” and “Safe Touch”. If you are interested in joining the fight against human trafficking or joining next month’s campaign email Mary at mary@gemsuncovered.org or visit gemsuncovered.org

“Our Voice” Campaign is a collaborate effort sponsored by She Arises, UNCVRD Jewelry and partnership with World Outreach church & Mary White founder of Gems Uncovered a non-profit organization assisting in the after care for survivors of sex trafficking.

Gems Uncovered offers programs that equip human trafficking survivors with skills and tools in career development, GED class, counseling, survivor groups and mentoring. Once the girls go through this program they are celebrated in a beautiful graduation ceremony and are praised for their accomplishments. She Arises has the privilege to take part in their accomplishments so we decided to design a t-shirt in their honor.  Our UNSTOPPABLE T-shirt was designed in their honor.

"Thank you Mary for allowing us to be part of yesterday's graduation. To learn more about how Mary and her organization fights against human trafficking check out her website at www.gemsuncovered.org or visit our partner/the notebook page on our website to get involved!
Our letter to the girls:

"To all the beautiful ladies graduating today, you are such an inspiration to all of us. As you stand here today I want you to know that you were created with PURPOSE, you are UNIQUE and one of a kind, you matter. The gifts that you will be receiving today from She Arises were created and designed and inspired for you, for this moment. The shirt reads “The World Before Her, She is Unstoppable”. I want you to know that you are BRAVE, CAPABLE & SIGNIFICANT; I want to encourage you to follow your dreams, even if they are wild, be unstoppable with your dreams and passions, wear it proud because YOU ARE UNSTOPPABLE, believe it! The other gift is our “She Arises” Tote; when I created She Arises I was inspired by women like you, who persevere and ARISE, my desire is that you to use this tote to carry your current projects, dreams and desires and to remind you that Capable and to remind you that YOU ARE ENOUGH! I am sad I could not be here today to celebrate you but please know that I am praying for you and you are in my thoughts today."
Love,
She Arises
